In The Humbling, legendary stage actor Simon Axler (legendary Al Pacino) suddenly and inexplicably loses his ability to perform, plunging him into a profound depression. In an effort to regain his gift, he embarks on an affair with Pegeen (Greta Gerwig), an iconoclastic woman half his age, who happens to be both a lesbian and the daughter of Simon’s old friends. Much comedic havoc ensues in both their lives.
