Cinema Detroit fans, we need your votes. WDIV-Channel 4/Click on Detroit is running their annual Vote 4 The Best contest, and we have been nominated in the Best Indie Cinema category. While the designation “Best” is certainly subjective, for screening sheer quantity of actually independent films, films that in many cases you can’t see on a big screen anywhere else outside of New York City and Los Angeles, we are clearly ahead of any other movie theater or theater chain in southeast Michigan.

Cinema Detroit’s programming and welcoming atmosphere have been lauded on websites and Facebook…you can check out some or our reviews here. We are also completely independent, as in we are funded only by ourselves and ticket and concession sales — we’ve never taken any grants, contributions, or loans. We are not part of a chain, and we have only one location. It’s difficult to get any more indie than that.

A win in this contest would help us immensely to get the word out and to continue to provide the quirky films and cozy ambiance you love. So please, cast your vote for us. It’s easy to do, and you can even vote every day through 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, which we would obviously welcome.
