Crime drama/thriller Easy Money II: Hard to Kill is a sequel, but not to worry, the skillful use of flashbacks allows someone who hasn’t seen the original Easy Money (aka Snabba Cash, 2010) to follow events easily. As the movie opens, JW (again played by Joel Kinnaman) is allowed a leave from prison, where he’s serving hard time for drug trafficking. His hopes of using his computer knowledge to build a legit life evaporate quickly, and JW feels he has little choice but to fall back into his criminal ways. What follows is a potent mix of crime drama, thriller, and neo-noir. However, it isn’t all flashy action and thrills. Along the way, Easy Money: Hard to Kill II asks some serious questions about class race, and their relationship to crime.
