On the 70th Anniversary of Victory over Japan Day, August 15, we will be presenting three critically-acclaimed BBC historical dramas, all dealing with different aspects of World War II.

3:15 p.m. – Wodehouse in Exile
BAFTA® and Emmy-award winning writer Nigel Williams crafts an intimate portrait of British humorist P.G. Wodehouse in Wodehouse In Exile. An all-star cast led by Tim-Pigott-Smith  (37 Days, Houdini) and Zoe Wanamaker (Mr. Selfridge) shares the gripping tale of how the creator of Jeeves and Wooster faced treason charges that prevented him from setting foot on English soil again. 5:15 p.m. – Castles in the Sky
Featuring a stunning lead performance by Eddie Izzard, Castles In The Sky recounts the powerhouse human drama behind Scotsman Robert Watson-Watt’s history-altering invention of radar technology. On the brink of war, Watson-Watt’s invention changed the playing field and advanced the British chances against the rising Nazi party. 7:15 p.m. – Copenhagen
Copenhagen is based around a strange visit the German physicist Werner Heisenberg (Daniel Craig) made to Copenhagen in 1941 to see his Danish counterpart Niels Bohr (Stephen Rea) and Bohr’s wife Magrethe (Francesca Annis). Heisenberg and Bohr were old friends and close colleagues, and together, had revolutionized atomic physics in the 1920s. But the world had changed and the two men were now on opposite sides of WWII. This version of their meeting is “a fanciful yet utterly believable and incredibly witty and charming speculation on the words that might have passed between the idealistic Bohr and the pragmatic Heisenberg.” — New York Times
